History of School:

The national school of Ti Lorrier was founded with the aim of reducing the rate of juvenile delinquency and alleviating the misery of children. This school arose through the combined efforts of educational leaders in the north-east, Senator Boulos, the DIGICEL Foundation and the participation of all parents of the community.

About the school:

Ti Lorrier is a National School working with the authorization of the Ministry of Education. There are 345 students enrolled at school, 181 boys and 164 girls and 4 teachers work with and for them. The school reaches 6th grade and teaches the basic maths, French, Creole, social sciences and experimental science curriculum.

The Board is composed of 4 people; the principal, a teacher, a parent and student. This committee is responsible for stimulating teachers to work better for a qualitative and quantitative performance each year and ensuring the execution of the formal education program.

The committee consists of 7 parents who monitor and collaborate with management to ensure the smooth running of the school, they should keep the school clean and protect the building. They promote regularity and help children to stay in school.

Partners of the School:

In 2007 the Foundation DIGICEL reconstructed and furnished the school. In 2008 the Foundation financially supported the payment and training of teachers.

The school is part of a food program. This program is supported by WFP. This program gives food to teachers and students each day, a hot dish of rice, peas and sardines throughout the school year.
